Your Kitchen Friends
Our guests often ask for recipes from the Latigo Ranch kitchen.  We plan to post a new recipe here regularly.

Lisa searches for recipe ideas and often finds new recipes to try, and if we like them, Randy experiments to figure out how to make them work when preparing them for 30+ guests.  Sometimes what we end up with is quite different from the original  and other times we make little change.

Since most of you don't live at 9,000 ft. above sea level like we do, we have adjusted the recipes for baked goods for low altitude.  If you do need to correct for higher altitudes, please feel free to email us for suggestions.

Enjoy your cooking, eating, and friendship around the table.

Healthy Crock Pot Applesauce

Healthy Crock Pot Applesauce

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

We recently received a case of apples that had an unappealing, mealy mouth feel.  They tasted fine, but they weren’t enjoyable to eat.  I made an apple cake and apple muffins, but I just wasn’t making much of a dent.  I came across this recipe, made a few adjustments, and liked this applesauce so much that I’ve already made two batches.

Red Wine-Chipotle Caramel Sauce

Tuesday, June 25, 2013

Spencer created this sauce and has served it at our Tuesday lunch cookout.  People have raved about having it on their burgers, so we wanted to have the recipe available.  It’s rather expensive to make since it uses a whole bottle of good wine, but if you’re wanting to impress the neighbors at your next barbeque, this would be the way to go! Cranberry Apple Chutney

Monday, December 27, 2010

I was drawn to this recipe as a way to dress up our ordinary bowl of cranberry sauce on the buffet when we serve turkey.  I tried it for the Christmas dinner we served to our skiing guests, and they gave it a big thumbs-up. Read More

Strawberry Rhubarb Sauce

Sunday, May 23, 2010

This is the time of year when I start a concerted effort to use up the bags of frozen rhubarb to make room for the new rhubarb that’s coming up in my garden.  This is a quick and easy sauce that is especially good stirred into some vanilla yogurt for a healthy snack.  It only takes a bit to really taste like summer. Rhubarb Raspberry Sauce

Sunday, May 24, 2009

We love this fruity sauce with raspberry yogurt over warm waffles, but I’m sure it’s also delicious with ice cream. Read More

Peach Raspberry Jam

Sunday, April 12, 2009

I was able to successfully use frozen fruit for this new jam recipe.  That means when we run out of homemade jam in February, like we did this year, we don’t have to wait until the fruit is in season before replenishing the stock.  What a relief! Read More

Zippy Raspberry Sauce for Pork

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

Chipotle peppers and raspberries combine to give this sauce a zippy yet somewhat sweet flavor.  We typically use this over pork, but it works well with a variety of meats. Read More
