Our 2007 Summer Season Draws to a Close

September 25, 2007

Our summer season has come to an end marked with brilliant patches of aspen gold and white caps on the distant mountains. This morning, I’m sure Kasdorf Peak was blanketed in white to those viewing our mountain from across the way. It was the coldest night in months, so the two inches of snow we’d received hung around until the sun was high in the sky. Now, all that’s left is mud and a gorgeous fall day.

Although we have no guests here to cook for and tend to, there are long lists of projects that should be completed before our remaining core of staff leave at the end of the week. It’s a long day of pushing cattle through chutes and hauling them to winter pasture 15 miles away, but we like to help each year since these ranchers are the ones who pasture our herd of horses during the winte. There is a tight bond of camaraderie among the ranching community in Grand County. Everyone spends a good deal of time helping others. Money is rarely exchanged, but favors are eagerly returned. A rich life, indeed

‘Thank you’ just seems so inadequate…It was honestly one of the best vacations I can remember.
