Welcome Home to Latigo Ranch

Welcome Home to Latigo Ranch

March 08, 2018

Currie Barron has loved Latigo ever since she and her family first came here years ago. She shows it with warm greetings, big hugs, and a labor of love which resides in each cabin: her book of wildflower photographs. Guests like Currie are adopted as family, and they kindly give back to their home away from home. She and her clan have become a part of Latigo. Here's what she had to say.

Back in 2002, I wanted to find a special way to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday.  He and I met because we both love cross-country skiing.  His birthday is in March, so I thought I'd look for a place in our home state of Colorado where we could cross-country ski and introduce our five kids to the joys of cross-country skiing.  Our kids were ages 6,8,11,13 & 15 at the time.  I had the good fortune to chance upon an article in the Boulder Weekly newspaper about cross-country ski areas.  Of the five places listed, Latigo Ranch sang to my heart ~ a simple, down-home feeling ranch, with plenty of ways to enjoy being outdoors and spending time with each other.  So we booked our first winter weekend stay, had a fabulous time, and have kept going back every year since - usually in the winter, but a couple of times in the summer as well - when Latigo is dude ranch Heaven and the earth is sweet with fresh hay and sage and wildflowers.

As we arrived at Latigo for our most recent visit, My heart soared with happiness and contentment as the familiar landscape came into view.  I felt like I was coming home and the ranch was welcoming me. The land here is free from much human impact.  Nature's rhythms flow uninterrupted.  Wildlife roam uninhibited.  Through repeated visits to Latigo, my spirit has connected with the spirit of the land here at Latigo.  And that connection has been welcomed and fostered by the friendly folks who own and run the ranch - Lisa & Randy George, their daughter Hannah (gifted artist in many arts), their son Spencer (top-notch chef), and Spencer's wife Amanda (Sommelier and Crocheter extraordinaire).  Their love for their ranch and their work is infectious.  They give their hearts and souls to welcoming their guests and ensuring that each guest has a fabulous ranch experience.   The George family's hospitality is outstanding - with a warm welcome for each guest and genuine interest people's lives and thoughts, observations and experiences.  A friendly family welcome for all.

Perhaps the greatest gift of Latigo is the gift it gives everybody who loves it - the gift of belonging to a special place with a treasured tradition of outstanding western hospitality.

I hope you come find out for yourself - ski or ride the trails; wander through the woods; keep on the lookout for elk, moose, deer, coyote, hawk, owl, raven; listen to the voices of the creek as it flows, as it cascades over the waterfall, smell the evergreens' scent, the tangy scent of sage as you breathe it deep down; stop a while and listen to the sound of silence; and know that Latigo welcomes you home.

Don't you want a vacation that loves you as much as you love it? Latigo is waiting for you; what are you waiting for? Book now.
