I heard a phrase the other day when one of our guests came down for a hot breakfast. We were chatting about the weather, skiing conditions, and so on, when he said, "Oh, you know that old expression, right? Cold weather but warm hearts." No, I hadn't, but at 9,000 ft of elevation, we don't have too many hot days at Latigo, so I think it suits us nicely. We also don't have the bitter cold that humidity forces on so much of the country because the air up here is simply so dry.

There's nothing quite like it, actually. Skiing down a track of perfect corduroy with a Colorado blue sky reigning supreme in the heavens, the aspens standing still and silent in their fields of white, and a warm sun at your back is only matched, at Latigo by the warmth of coming inside to the crackling fire and the sparkling laughter of the lodge.

Latigo makes for a perfect winter getaway, not only with the good snow conditions, great food, and fantastic scenery, but it's the feeling of the place. The people who own and run it, hearts on their sleeves and kindness close to hand. We might have some pretty chilly weather, but it's matched by the warmth in our hearts as we welcome you home... to Latigo.
