The wild parts of the world instill greatness and forge strength. No time at Latigo is that more apparent than our entire first week of June when we invite women to come to Latigo and be inspired by how the west has shaped the lives of the ladies who are busy working in it. Anyone is welcome to come and be hear the stories, see the jobs, and live the life during this week – we just have a little extra in the program!

One of our favorites in the spotlight was recently in a New York Times article! Here’s a snippet about what they had to say for our Caitlyn Taussig – neighbor, friend, rancher, and musician.

Growing up on her family’s ranch in Kremmling, Colo., Caitlyn Taussig watched her mother do all the cooking and housework even as she helped tend to the cattle and horses. Today, Ms. Taussig, 32, helps run the ranch with a cadre of cowgirls, including her mother and sister. They only really rely on men on the days when they have to brand the Angus Cross cattle. “We just sort of treat each other differently,” Ms. Taussig said shortly after a cow kicked a gate that split open her forehead. She got six stitches and was back at work that afternoon. “There’s less ego.”

Against the vast blue skies and craggy prairies, female ranchers have found the same independence and adventure that first lured their male antecedents, but they are also forging a new path. Women are leading the trend of sustainable ranching and raising grass-fed breeds of cattle in humane, ecological ways.

We loved Latigo Ranch! It was our best vacation ever! Cabins were comfortable, food was scrumptious and the wranglers were wonderful.
